The materials are produced by the Finnish Environment Institute's (Syke) Quality of information and Digital services units. Satellite data interpretations are made using several instruments by NASA, NOAA and the EU Copernicus program Sentinel series. Sentinel-2 (ESA), Sentinel-3 (ESA), Landsat-8 (NASA) and TERRA MODIS (NASA) satellite instruments are currently used for observation. The NOAA-AVHRR (NOAA), AQUA / TERRA MODIS (NASA), ENVISAT MERIS (ESA), RADARSAT (CSA) and AMSR-E (NASA) instruments have also been used in the past. The ENVISAT MERIS and Sentinel-2 data have been downloaded from the Copernicus archive servers. Landsat-8 images and some AQUA MODIS data have been downloaded from NASA archives. The Finnish Meteorological Institute has received NOAA-AVHRR and AQUA / TERRA MODIS data.

Syke must be cited as a source if the datasets are used in publications or performances or otherwise made available to the public. When utilizing true-color images, the supplier of the original data must also be mentioned.
